1. After a
performance, spray the inside with a mixture of half vodka and half
water to get rid of odors and refresh (be care to test fabric
in inconspicuous place for fading or staining
first
2. When
performing before an audience wearing hosiery or fishnet tights will
cover imperfections of the legs, adding beauty to the dancers
overall appearance. It will also give a polished look when
dancing.

3. Carry a
sheet of dryer fabric softener (like bounce) with your veil.
It prevents static and freshens your veil. (do not use the
foam type, they will leave grease spots) Catriana
4. After
each wearing, before you put away your costume. Complete any
repairs. That way your costume will be ready for the next
performance
5. Safety pIns are a
Dancer's best friend. Use them to pin belts to keep them
from slipping, to pin in padding so padding can't get loose and
show, for zil elastics, for an emergency repair and more. (Always
carry a variety of sizes.)
6. Wear cheer leaders or skating
briefs under your costume in a matching color for proper modesty if
needed.

1. Tuck
those long ends in a spot on each side to make a drape. or
Make the top end longer and then wraps it under then over the
top of the knot to cover the knot. Naj

2.
If you hate tying over a bunch of beads, triangle beaded
hipshawls fit differently. The beaded area is generally
shorter around the body. (The top beaded row I measured
on one was 23" then the fabric to the ties has only a
slight edging.) It is easier to tie as you are not tying
over beads. The new velvet coin scarves also have a shorter
line of coins making fit the smaller dancer better.
3.
Another solution: sew a heavy piece of material or wide
grosgrain ribbon to the top then put hooks on it. That
would make it sturdier and put less strain on the beads.
It takes more patience but nice neat
solution
.
4.
Dramatic for larger girls: Buy 2 triangles of same style
tie on either side for lots of coverage. (almost an accent
skirt)
5. Wear
a straight hipscarf wrapped around chest and criss-crossed at
front bust for a top and a matching triangle for hips
for a quick wow emergency costume!

Quick Costume and/or Coverup
trick |
|
Great when the situation calls for a covered costume or
dress.
Not necessary to sew
You need: 2 matching 2 yard veils, about a yard and a
half 5/8" similar color grossgrain ribbon, 8 to 10 small
safety pins or matching thread and needle ,
1. Take the two veils pin them at the shoulder (use 2
or 3 pins on each side) or hand sew them together leaving
about 12 inches for the neckline
2. Then put them over head. When you
have them on, from the hem hold so the bottom is where you
want your hemline.....Mark each side (front and back)
with a pin.
3. Take it off and sew ) or safety pin a piece of
grossgrain ribbon (9 inches works on me, but make it at
least 12 inches, you can always cut) on each of the marked
points You now have 4 ties
4. Put on your dress. Take the ties from the back
and tie them around you waist in the front . Take the
ties from the front and wrap them around the waist tying in
back.
5. Pull some of the extra fabric from the top up and
over the tie to blouse. (pouf it out)
6. Add a fitted belt for Dabke, a hip scarf for other
dance or just wear as a cover up.
Eclypse is sewing two together at the shoulder
adding a belt. Then add matching headband with coins on
the forehead and a 30 inch cotton scarf for a quickie
costume for our dabke number.
